Terms of Service

Last updated: September 7, 2026 · Applies to Contact (com.hash.contacts)

These terms govern your use of Contact, a contacts and dialer app for Android. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please uninstall the app.

License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on devices you own, for your own personal use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, reverse engineer or create derivative works from the app, except where the law expressly permits it.

Your contacts are yours

The app reads and edits the contacts already stored on your device through Android's own contacts provider. It creates no separate copy of your phone book, and deleting a contact in the app deletes it from your device just as it would in any other contacts app. Keep your own backup — through your Google account or your device manufacturer's backup — if your contacts matter to you. We hold no copy and cannot restore anything for you.

Calls and charges

When you tap Call, the app asks Android to place the call. Whether it connects, and what it costs, is a matter between you, your device and your mobile operator. You remain responsible for the calls you make and for the charges applied to them. The app is not your default phone app and does not answer or route calls.

Do not rely on this app for emergency calls. Emergency calling depends on your network, SIM, device, battery and signal. Use your device's built-in emergency dialer, which works from the lock screen and does not depend on any installed app.

The after-call screen and reminders

The after-call screen appears after a call ends, and shows the number, the length of the call and quick actions. To name the caller on an incoming call, Android requires that you choose this app as your Caller ID & spam app; the app uses that role only to read the number of a call that is ringing, never to block, reject or filter a call, and it reads no call history. The role is optional and you can withdraw it at any time in Android settings, after which incoming calls simply appear without a name. Whether it can open by itself depends on Android: without the optional “appear on top” permission the system blocks it and the app shows a notification instead. Reminders you create are scheduled through Android's alarm service and may be delayed or suppressed by battery optimisation, Doze or the device manufacturer's power saving. Reminders are stored on your device only and are deleted when you uninstall the app.

Messages, email and other apps

The quick replies, “Send Mail”, “Calendar”, “Web” and WhatsApp actions hand your request to whichever app you have installed for that purpose, with the number or text filled in. The app does not send messages itself, and what those other apps do is governed by their own terms.

Advertising

The app is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob. Ad content comes from third parties; we do not control it and are not responsible for the sites or apps it links to. You can switch off personalised ads in Settings → Privacy Settings, after which ads are still shown but are not matched to your interests. How ad data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.

Fair use

You agree not to tamper with the app, interfere with the ads it shows, or use it in a way that breaks the law, harasses anyone, or breaches your mobile operator's terms. We may modify, suspend or discontinue the app or any feature at any time.

Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law we are not liable for failed, missed or delayed calls, for lost or altered contacts, for reminders that do not fire on time, or for any indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

Changes

If these terms change, the updated version will be published on this page and the date above will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
